Please join GOCA tonight as we hear from two of our at large Council members, Marc Elrich and Nancy Floreen. They will address the growth policy and transportation concerns. We will also hear an update from the Olney Town Center Committee and The Freeman companies; and discuss the effect of the growth policy on Olney.

Additionally we will learn about some proposed plans in Sandy Spring for the Goddard School and hear from Michelle Layton.

The GOCA meeting on June 9th will feature:

proposals from Montgomery General Hospital about the new office buildings they wish to construct across from the hospital on Prince Philip Drive,
a presentation about proposals for development on the Marian Brothers property in Brookeville along Georgia Avenue
and a visit from District 2 Council member Mike Knapp who will discuss the recent Council decisions about the budget.

The GOCA meeting on May 12th will feature our annual report from our elected officials from Districts 14 and 19. Our House will also attend to inform us of upcoming construction plans.

There will also be an update on the upcoming Olney Days Celebrations, fireworks and parade on May 15-17th.

The April GOCA meeting will feature:

speakers from the Montgomery County Volunteer Center who will speak about Volunteer services and opportunities in the County
community officers from MCPD Wheaton sub station will give us an update on public safety, local bike patrols and crime issues
Aunt Hatties House architects will present their drawings for the revision plan.

The March meeting of GOCA may have some of the candidates for the District 4 seat in attendance – come early to meet them. The main program will have County Planning Board Chair Royce Hanson and County Planner Rollin Stanley presenting a video and discussing their vision for future growth policy development.

The February 10th Meeting of GOCA will be held at 7:45 pm in the Community Room of the Buffington Building at 3300 Olney-Laytonsville Road (route 108). The topics addressed will include Councilmember Marc Elrichs’ Bus Rapid Transit Proposal – presented by Chief of Staff Dale Tibbitts and an ICC update – presented by Odessa Phillips from the State Highway Administration ICC task force.

The GOCA meeting for January 13th will feature our County Executive Isiah Leggett who who address some of the budget concerns and other pertinent issues facing the county currently. As he is the only speaker, we will have time to have questions and answers exchanged with those in attendance.

The Olney Town Center Advisory Committee (OTCAC) will also give a brief presentation about the Town Center Concept Plan to the county executive.
