Letter to Transportation
& Environment Committee re:
Sand Mounds in Ag Reserve

Dear Committee Chairman Floreen, and members Leventhal and Perez,

On behalf of the Greater Olney Civic Association, I'm pleased to pass along our views of Bill 38-05, which the Transportation and Environment Committee is due to consider tomorrow.

At its meeting on Tuesday night, GOCA passed a resolution endorsing the underlying legislation. We believe this is a responsible measure to allow for data collection regarding the impact of sand mounds in the Ag Reserve. Sand mound locations, size of lots and farming activity on those lots should be assessed to determine their impacts. The impact of estate lot subdivisions using sand mound technology has not been assessed.

We support the amendment to extend the moratorium until October. Obviously, we reserve judgement on amendments we have not seen.

rgds,

Art Brodsky
Executive Vice President
Greater Olney Civic Association
