What a Great Weekend!

Thanks everyone that turned out to participate and support the different events, all our sponsors, and especially all of our volunteers. Together we created a spectacular Olney Days weekend, with a little help from the weather, which was beautiful all of the times it needed to be!

Olney Days Contest Forms

We now have online the registration forms for the Ice Cream Eating Contest, the Watermelon Eating Contest, and the Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest. Forms may also be picked up at Cold Stone Creamery (ice cream contest) and Good Earth (watermelon contest), and returned to either place, faxed to 301-774-3151, or brought to the park up to 15 minutes before the contest begins.
By Friday morning, we will post the parade lineup. Also check back here on Sunday morning for news of changes due to inclement weather. A decision will be made by 11:00 am.

Agenda for May 10 Meeting

The agenda for the May 10 meeting is now available. In addition to the regular reports, the meeting will feature two special presentations:
- State Legislative Wrap-Up by Representatives from State Districts 14 and 19.
- Controlling the Deer Population by Ron Gibbs from M-NCPPC.
The meeting begins at 7:45 in the Community Room of the Buffington Re/Max Building at 3300 Olney-Sandy Spring Road in Olney, MD. All are welcome.

GOCA has learned of some unscrupulous home improvement contractors operating in Olney. For your protection, remember that you should not agree to have work done without seeing a business license and getting a written contract up front. You can contact the Montgomery County Consumer Affairs Division (240-777-3636) if you want to check out a contractor.
