The Countywide Transit Corridors Functional Master Plan is a planning document that contains an examination of and recommendations for transit, bicycle, and pedestrian infrastructure that will help create complete transportation options in Montgomery County.

This document is being considered by the County Council and there are public hearings on September 24 & 26.

“The Institute for Transportation and Development Policy works with cities worldwide to bring sustainable transport solutions that cut greenhouse gas emissions, reduce poverty, and improve the quality of urban life.” Their website offers background on BRT, how it works, and where it has been implemented (see Where We Work link).

A motion from GOCA’s Transportation Committee to oppose funds or taxing districts to fund expansion of BRT to Olney was postponed at the September meeting to either the October or November meeting. Watch for upcoming agendas.

ECR:BFR Post Meeting Notes

At the February 12th meeting, there was a presentation and discussion regarding a road connection between Emory Church Road and Batchellors Forest Road through the proposed project on Trotter’s Glen Golf Course. Click here to see the presentation that includes input from those at the meeting.

Dedication of the Ron Berger Playground

All are invited to attend the dedication of the Norbeck Meadows Park Playground to the memory of the late Ron Berger. The event will take place at the playground (entry off of George Washington Drive at Continental Drive) on Saturday afternoon, September 8th at 12:30 PM (Refreshments) and the program will begin at 1:00 PM. Olney Home for Life (OHFL) is a non-profit organization of Olney residents that is helping senior neighbors remain in their homes and in the Olney community, as they age. You may have read the article about OHFL in the Gazette on Feb. 1st.
