2023 Membership Renewal

As we invite your homeowners or civic association to become a member of the Greater Olney Civic Association or to renew your membership, we want to note some of our major accomplishments during 2022.

  • Obtained approval of a Capital Improvements Project to add a bike lane to Bowie Mill Rd that will be completed by 2029
  • Held Candidate’s Forums and a Candidate’s Debate for the newly formed County Council District 7 seat
  • Supported efforts to address the issues of dangerous speeding and excessively loud traffic on the Inter-County Connector, including supporting the Highway Safety Bill during the last State Legislative session to reduce the dangerous motor vehicle speeding and, more recently, testifying before the Montgomery County Delegation of the Maryland State Legislature in support of the proposed legislation to put speed cameras on the ICC within Montgomery County that will be considered during the 2023 State legislative session
  • Formed a coalition with the local organization, Green Olney, to work on environmental issues intended to make Olney a more green community
  • Met with staff of the Montgomery County Department of General Services regarding the County’s Affordable Housing Initiative 2022 to learn about and provide input on a site on Emory Rd that is one of several County owned properties being looked at as potential sites for affordable housing projects
  • Invited the Residential Energy Program Manager of the Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection’s Energy, Climate & Compliance Division to share information with our members on ways residents can reduce their energy bills and current tax credit programs.
  • Passed along donations from our member associations in support of Olney Days and the Montgomery County District 4 Police Olney Substation.

We look forward to continuing to working with the representatives from our member associations on behalf of the greater Olney community to help ensure that Olney continues to be the special place it is to live in, work in, learn in, and play in.

Please support GOCA’s efforts to address the welfare of the Olney community with your membership renewal and continued participation; both are essential. Please mail the linked membership renewal form and your check to GOCA at P.O. Box 212, Olney, MD 20830.

We appreciate your continued support in the coming year.
